Talin's Favorite Web Pages
Places I go a lot
- HotBot -- I'm starting to prefer
this search engine over some of the others, mainly due to the quality and
relevance of the search results (Your mileage may vary).
- Lightside is one of our service
providers (don't ask, it's complicated), and I've known co-founder Dennis Hescox for
many years.
- c|net I go here every couple of
days for the latest news about technology and the Net.
The Be Box
- Be, Inc. The BeBox is the coolest
computer around. Programming it is pure recreation.
Games and Game Development
Software Archives
Social Relevance
- LunaCity is a repository
of information relating to space activism and the creation of a true space-faring
society. The founder, Mike Wallace, is also an active member of the Space Access Society (SAS), one of the few space activist groups that is actually doing something useful and effective. This is done by focusing on one and only one issue -- low-cost access to low-earth orbit -- and ignoring all other politically fractious issues which have divided other grassroots efforts.
- THOMAS: Legislative Information on the Internet -- In the spirit of Thomas Jefferson, this service of the library of congress provides detailed information on current legislation.

Other Interesting Companies
- Kagi Shareware This unique company was
founded by my close friend Kee Nethery, and is based on the idea of
providing an easy way for shareware authors to get paid.
- Steve Jackson Games -- makers of GURPS (The generic universal role-playing system).
- Cygnus Support Information --
These are the guys that provide technical support for GNU products, and do
quite a bit of free software-smithing in their copious spare time.
